Looking for the song “Charm School Dropout” by The Dogmatics?

We recently learned about a new song titled “Charm School Dropout” release by a UK group formed from multiple bands that decided to use our band name “The Dogmatics“.
We support the ongoing efforts of fellow musicians. That said, we wish that this crew had done a bit more “Googling” before creating a new super group that adopts a band name we’ve used since 1981.
Depending on the streaming services and music websites you frequent, you might see this song appear as part of the Dogmatics catalog of recordings (or not). It’s probably going to be messy if they keep making new music under this name. Happy 2025!
Post from Facebook group “Q. What do you get if you put Mick Rossi of Slaughter & The Dogs and David Philp of the Automatics together?
A. The Dogmatics of course. You can vote for their new single, Charm School Dropout now and stream online.”
P.S. If you are involved in this aforementioned project and want to chat about how to mitigate this confusion, please get in touch.
Suggested Alternative: “The Slaughtomatics”

Streaming Services Issues Persist
Because of this snaffu, the song is showing up on various streaming websites as if it were one of our releases. This had included Amazon, but we were able to contact them directly and they appear to have prompty removed it (thanks). That said it’s still showing on others.
We’ve been having to waste notable time attempting to fix this…
We sent the following support request to DistroKid hoping to get help, they seem confused so far:
PLEASE REMOVE:
We need this one song/single:
“Charm School Dropout” 1 track, 03 minutes, released 01/16/2025
Removed from “The Dogmatics” band profile, across the following services:
FROM SERVICES:
Deezer profile:

I’m uncertain if this problem exists with Napster. Can you check?:

Early Morning
We were able to reach out to the individual streaming services that were incorrectly displaying this song as part of our catalog. We are awaiting response from Pandora, but thank Amazon, Deezer, and iHearRADIO for their prompt responses and fixes.
A fan who runs a Facebook group about the band The Automatics (where we first learned of this) suggested that this new band could consider changing their name to something like “The Dogmatics UK” – but that doesn’t sit well with us either. We’ve had a following beyond the US borders for decades. United Kingdom has been in the top 10 countries in our international streaming stats for as long as our catalog became digitally available.
Still no contact from anyone involved in the release of this song, please reach out.
There’s no website for this other band or information about their lyrics for the song, so we set up a page called “Charm School Dropout lyrics – The Dogmatics” to help people get that info while also learning about what’s going on.
This ain’t over, because it’s still interfering with general internet searches for our band…
Later Morning
We didn’t see this Facebook response from David Philp until after we posted the above. Let’s hope we can get in direct contact and figure something out.

Afternoon
Unfortunately, we have not been able to fully resolve this issue yet. We continue to try and contact anyone involved with releasing the song “Charm School Dropout” using our band name The Dogmatics.
No direct response back yet. We’ve had to invest a lot of time trying to figure out how to get this song off our streaming profiles, and it’s only going to continue to cause confusion if their song gets any traction.
Now is the time for that band to step up and change the name to something completely unique (no, f* “Dogmatics UK” is not acceptable either) – ASAP!
Check out our YouTube video update on this topic
Evening
David Philp shared his contact information with us via our secure web contact form. We have just sent a response and hope that we are able to come to agreement on something that works for both bands. Stay tuned…

We had an email exchange with David Philp a bandmate involved in the release of “Charm School Dropout.”
They promised not to release any further material under our name but do not have the resources to change or undo the released single (which we recognize is not trivial).
They said their original plan was to use the band name Slaughtomatics (coincidentally, our initial suggestion above), but at the last moment, someone involved with the cover artwork suggested The Dogmatics. They said they had not heard of our band. While we didn’t probe for specifics, we assume that’s an admission that nobody bothered to vet it.
We are glad to come to a resolution, but will continue to leave up our content that calls out the confusion their one-song release will continue to cause.
Now, go listen to some music by The (real) Dogmatics!
New single "With A Scarlet Letter" was written and sung by Peter O'Halloran. This track may come off like a goofy garage/pub rocker on the surface. But at a deeper level, it examines our nation's puritanical heritage and warns of forces in America which seek to erode the separation church and state. So, yeah, it's a fun sing-along number that's also a political anthem. This band never disappoints.
It steams ahead like the best Dogmatic material... The Dogs are in the same creative tear they were in the early eighties. It’s amazing to see and hear it happen. We have this on our Top Ten songs.
Library Girl is the kind of rock song any fan of this kind of music should get to know to draw The Dogmatics out of the Boston circuit. Yes, Library Girl is that good, believe me.
It's 100% vintage Dogmatics and vintage Jerry Lehane — a mid-tempo punk-pop banger straight out of the Boston garage rock textbook... And some of those lyrics made me laugh out loud!
